Executive Strategy for Leaders, Entrepreneurs, and Creatives

Because Everyone Needs a Wizard

Let’s face it: the world can be chaotic. From economic uncertainty and job insecurity to good intentions gone to waste due to a lack of confidence and an abundance of stress, life can be overwhelming all too often.

But it doesn’t need to be this way.

You don’t need to go on this journey alone. You don’t need to do everything by yourself. Sometimes, to bring order to professional chaos, you need someone who can illuminate the way, manage your projects, give you the tools for success, and walk with you until you’re ready to run to the finish line.

No matter your industry, goals, or experience level, he’s worked 1:1 with everyone from college students and recent grads to small business owners and executives in sprawling multinational companies.

His game theory approach to data analysis and business and professional development makes him unique. He helps his clients find internal motivation to carry them to their goals. By examining processes, addressing unhelpful habits, and providing various educational resources, you’ll accomplish your goals with such ease that it would feel almost as if it’s by magic.

How the Process Works

Business Magic 101

Though we can work on an as-needed basis, those who opt to meet regularly (either biweekly or weekly) with us benefit from having someone in their corner to keep them on the path to victory. Whether that’s tracking progress, analyzing data, or just being an accountability buddy to motivate you during your latest campaign or project, our process is divided into five main steps.

Gather Your Party Before Venturing Forth

We begin as all stories like this do: two strangers cross paths and share a conversation. As they talk, something catches their mutual interest and ideas start to form.

This step is the easiest — and it’s where most journeys end. After all, talk is talk; words and daydreams with good intention but flawed execution (if there is any).

But this time is different. The wind whispers, calling to you.

Objectives

  • Introduce yourself and discuss your goals and what’s keeping you from where you want to be.
  • Answer any questions about myself, what I do, and how I can help.
  • Identify your allies that’ll help make the journey easier (friends, coworkers, teammates, mentors, etc.).
  • Determine if you’re ready to begin this new journey.

Define What You Want and How You’ll Get It

Dr. Stephen Covey famously wrote in his book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, “Begin with the end in mind.”

So many goals are left unachieved because of a lack of clarity: if you don’t know what you want, how to measure it, or how to track your progress toward it, you’re doomed to fail from the start.

Now is the time to create a map. The wind carries birdsong from over the horizon.

Objectives

  • Clearly define your goals and take stock of your situation: what’s hindering you, what’s helping you, and what projects, tasks, and other goings-on you’re dealing with.
  • Determine your accountability; how often do you want to meet to strategize and adjust the course?
  • Set up a dashboard to manage your projects, track their progress, and measure their effectiveness.

Work Towards Your Goal (The Hard Part)

With map laid out, course plotted, party assembled, and provisions secured, all that’s left is to take the first step.

Few people get past the planning stage, and of those who do, fewer still make it to their destination.

But what is a journey except a series of single steps? The wind bites, pushing against you.

Objectives

  • Manage your projects and identify what you need to handle immediately, what you can schedule for later, what you can delegate, and what to let go.
  • Tie your projects and tasks to your goals so that everything you do pushes you forward.
  • Develop strategies to build momentum and create better habits.
  • Prevent burnout and conquer negative thinking.

Measure, Adapt, and Improve (Make the Hard Part Easier)

As you continue toward your goal, you notice that the path has gotten easier, the workload less burdensome. You’ve gotten stronger and have learned a thing or two as you’ve traveled.

With the energy you save, you reinvest it into finding better ways to do things. Instead of carrying everything, you have a horse and wagon; instead of feeling like you need to do everything, you learn to trust others to help you.

You’re still not quite where you want to be, but the sun is warm. The wind is at your back, pushing you forward.

Objectives

  • Learn how to learn — understand how to look for quality resources to help make your life and work easier without becoming paralyzed by information overload.
  • Analyze metrics to improve your performance by identifying weaknesses and developing ways to strengthen or outmaneuver them.
  • Let go of the sunken cost fallacy, allowing yourself the grace to be imperfect and with not being the smartest person in the room so that you can better learn and grow.

Succeed — and Start Again

You’ve come so far, and your goal is within reach. Yet each step seems to get heavier. Why?

Too often, fear eats at us: fear of the unknown, of success, of what comes after. But that uncertainty is part of the fun. After you achieve your goals for this journey, another one begins. There’s always more to do, and you’ve grown stronger and smarter after all this time.

Don’t be afraid. Enjoy the efforts of your hard work. The wind is calm, though it begins to stir gently at your feet.

Objectives

  • Assess your journey, from start to finish, and solidify what you’ve learned.
  • Determine your next course of action, restarting the cycle — not from scratch, but from a more knowledgable, capable position.
  • Learn to enjoy success rather than fear it, believing yourself able and deserving of what you’ve fought so hard to attain.

I have worked with Tony on a few digital marketing projects over the last 5 years, and I could not have been happier with the results and the customer service he provided me.

As an owner, I always thought it seemed easy enough and cheaper to do on my own, but after failing to get the results I was looking for, I reached out to Tony for help. During his tenure at my company, Tony assisted in not only turning around the overall creative direction of our endeavors, he also helped shape the long term culture and direction of the company. He not only has a strong mastery of writing, but also an impressive collection of generalist skills that allows him to seamlessly integrate with any of those around him.

Robert Cudd
President - OneWorldMemorials.com
We contracted with Tony for several months to help us set a new direction for SEO and content work—an underperforming area that was causing us some stress.

Tony proved to be a great asset. He took great care to understand our business and to get all our inputs. He then took us through a disciplined process for setting a new content strategy and then orchestrated a rich execution of that strategy. Tony also worked very well with our internal team—and inspired them.

Bottom line: Tony took our underperforming SEO/Content program and reset it in a very positive direction in a very short time-frame. I would gladly work with Tony again.

Tony listens better than most any other consultant I've worked with. He takes the time to ask targeted and profound questions to ensure he understands the client's needs before starting any project. Additionally, Tony is a phenomenal communicator in general, but his writing talent is superior.

If you want to drive more customers to your website that ultimately leads to more business, Tony is your guy!

Tony is an outstanding writer. We worked together for six months and he is still one of the best people I have ever worked alongside. He is knowledgable, motivated, dedicated, understanding, and an all around great writer. He's talented and driven to get better everyday.

He is eloquent and patient with clients when things get difficult. He is helpful and organized when it comes to tasks outside of writing (I personally witnessed his project managing skills).

He is an excellent choice for anything under the umbrella of writing, managing, or even if you're in the market for a really good friend.

Problems We Solve

Use Cases and Examples of How We Make a Difference

While it’s true that everyone is on their own path and no business, freelancer, or entrepreneur has the exact same problems, here are a few examples of ways we’ve helped others that might interest and apply to you. No matter the obstacles you face, we tailor our services to what you need.

The overwhelmed business owner

The Profile

You’re the owner of a small-to-medium-sized business. You’ve been around for a few years, have a system and maybe a few employees, but things aren’t as smooth as you were hoping. While it’s natural for business owners to wear many hats and assume various roles, you find yourself in firefighting mode the majority of your time. There’s always something going wrong and you feel like you can’t get ahead, no matter what you do.

The Challenge

  • Constantly stuck in a reactive mode; there are so many problems to tackle that it’s difficult to focus on what needs to get done or how to organize and delegate tasks.
  • Things seem like they’re barely hanging on; expenses are up, margins are down, and you have no time or energy to attract new business.
  • Whether alone or with employees, you feel like you’re carrying the entire business; even having someone to talk to who understands what it’s like would be a relief.

The Solution

  • First, we outline your long-term goals: what does success look and feel like?
  • Then, we identify short-term goals and current tasks and projects while tying them to those long-term goals. By organizing your work this way, we can find what you should work on first, what to work on later, what to delegate, and what to get rid of (because it’s just noise that got caught in the mix).
  • Finally, we help you delegate your tasks, either to members on your team, us, or freelancers within our network.

As a business owner, Tony understands what it’s like to feel the pressure of the whole business on your shoulders. We slowly peel away that burden, get you out of firefighting mode, and enable you to perform your best and focus on what will help you and your business grow and succeed. Plus, it’s nice to have someone to talk and vent to, brainstorm with, and encourage you while holding you accountable to your goals.

The ambitious (and aimless) content creator

The Profile

You’re a streamer, video editor, writer, or some other creative soul who loves making content. What started as a hobby is growing into a potentially lucrative side gig as your channel has grown. While you understand how to make content, you’re unsure how to scale your channel without losing yourself in all the data, development, and daydreaming.

The Challenge

  • Worried that you’ll start to hate what you used to love; burnout among content creators is real, especially when things aren’t progressing as fast as they’d like.
  • You’re pulled in different directions with so much opportunity out there; sure, you love making content, but knowing how to find your niche and interpret your analytics has always been elusive.
  • The rollercoaster of content performance makes it hard to chart a path to consistent monetization; ad revenue from January isn’t the same as it is in July despite having similar views and impressions — and this inconsistency makes you nervous about going all in.

The Solution

  • First, we outline your long-term goals: what kind of channel do you want to build, who’s your audience, what are the fun parts about your work and what do you dread?
  • Then, we interpret your channel analytics so far, looking for audience behavior patterns (who’s liking and commenting on what), content trends (do they like your funny shorts more or your longer in-depth videos that are a bit more serious?), and other that are relevant to your goals.
  • Finally, we give you advice and strategies on how to effectively monetize and scale your channel and brand so that you’re no longer at the whims of algorithms and ad bidding.

As a content creator and conversion rate expert, Tony knows how to translate impressions and views into subscribers and revenue. Moreover, he’s all too familiar with burnout and has become adept at avoiding it, training creators how to pace themselves, adapt their workload, and find the right balance you’re looking for.

The lonesome freelancer

The Profile

You’re a freelancer or fresh graduate just getting started on your solopreneur journey. Try as you might, networking has been difficult. LinkedIn is filled with spam and dead-ends, the local scene seems closed off or without much opportunity. You have this need to create and build but are either uncertain with how to start or just feel alone against a world that’s, at best, indifferent to you.

The Challenge

  • Feeling like you’re the only one who didn’t get an invite to the business club; so many networking events and organizations feel like a who’s who not unlike the cliques in a high school cafeteria — not to mention there’s way more talk than actual business being done.
  • You’re stuck in a learning loop; you know enough about your chosen path to know what you don’t know, but you’re struggling to apply anything you’ve learned and turn it into revenue to build your business.
  • You feel like you’re screaming in a crowd but no one can hear you; the world seems saturated with freelancers, but how can you carve your own slice of the pie when it feels like no one takes you seriously?

The Solution

  • First, we outline your growth goals: what are you trying to do, what do you want to learn, and what does success look like between the next few months to a year?
  • Then, we give you resources to learn what you need to do as well as how to apply that without overwhelming you with knowledge. We may even help you find your first clients, hone your pitch, and find the right platforms to connect you with the right people.
  • Finally, we walk with you each step of the way until you’re ready to stand on your own. After all, sometimes all we need is someone in our corner who believes in us and can help troubleshoot what’s wrong, letting us to figure out the path forward so we can learn.

With years of peer mentorship and a background as a freelancer, Tony understands what it’s like to work by oneself, especially when it feels like everyone else is supporting each other yet you’re still stuck on the outside. This is especially true of entrepreneurs getting their start in their early 20s — not old enough to be taken seriously by other professionals and increasingly feeling isolated from friends their age who have found salaried jobs or spend most of their time partying. Freelancing doesn’t have to be a lonely, soul-sucking endeavor. Sometimes it’s nice just to have someone to talk to and help you find your way, guiding you when you ask rather than just dishing out not-so-helpful advice every chance they get.

The entrepreneur drowning in data

The Profile

Your business or brand is already profitable, but you’re struggling to optimize its structure and revenue funnels. You have tons of data from all the analytics apps you have, but you’ve gotten so bogged down in the numbers that they’re all running together, not making sense. You find yourself looking at reports more than making the right moves to grow. After a while, no matter what you do, you can’t seem to make any headway.

The Challenge

  • You’re suffering from information overload; more data isn’t always a good thing, especially if you’re getting it from conflicting sources and don’t know how to make heads or tails of it.
  • You’re too caught up in the numbers; data is quantitative — it can be measured and explained — but business is also qualitative — the feelings and experiences that aren’t so easily measured and categorized.
  • Too much analysis without much action; all of the knowledge in the world is useless without proper application.

The Solution

  • First, we outline your long-term goals: what are you trying to do and what metrics do we need to track progress?
  • Then, we look at the system: how is the data collected, validated, and applied — and how can we keep you from drowning in the data lake?
  • Finally, we translate the data into applicable strategies you and your team can get to work on right away.

As a data analyst, Tony knows what patterns and metrics to pull out of your reports and feeds, organizing them into easy-to-read strategy guides with logic explaining each suggestion. In a world that’s demands we stay on top of our metrics, it can be all too easy to fall prey to number-crunching and boiling everything down to datapoints. Sometimes, all that’s needed is a solid benchmark, a good plan, and re-engaging ourselves with the work at hand.
